This policy explains what information the DawoodiBohrasOne Android app
(package com.makkaji.dawoodibohrasone, "the app") handles, and why. The app is
published by Mahammadi Makkajiwala ("we", "us").
Information used on your device
Approximate location
If you allow it, the app uses your approximate (coarse) location to calculate Namaz times, the Qibla direction and Ghari timings, and to show your city name. These calculations happen on your phone. Your location is not sent to us or stored on any server we control. To display your city name, Android's built-in geocoder may send your approximate coordinates to Google. Location is optional: you can deny or revoke it at any time, and the rest of the app keeps working. The last location found is saved on your phone so widgets and reminders can show Namaz times in the background.
If you prefer not to share your location, you can choose a city instead. The city name you type is looked up with Android's built-in geocoder (provided by Google) to find its coordinates; the chosen city is saved only on your phone and is used only when your phone's location isn't available.
Data you enter
These are saved only on your phone. We never receive them.
- Birthdays, anniversaries and other yearly reminders you add (name and Misri date)
- Tasbeeh counters and totals, and your Namaz tracker ticks
- Library favourites and items saved for offline use
- Settings such as theme, card style, azan, dua and Miqaat reminders, and time adjustments
- Daily Duas reading progress, bookmarks and playback speed
Photos in greeting cards
When making a greeting card you can optionally add a photo. You choose it with Android's photo picker, so the app can see only the one photo you pick, never your whole gallery, and needs no photo permission. The photo is used only to draw the card image on your phone. It is not uploaded, stored on any server, or sent to us. It leaves your phone only if you choose to share the finished card, for example in a messaging app.
Library downloads
The Library list is downloaded from our public site on GitHub Pages
(makkaji.github.io), and audio and PDF files are downloaded from Google Drive. As with
any website, these services receive your IP address and basic request information when files are
downloaded. Downloaded lists, PDFs and recently played audio are saved on your phone so they work
offline.
Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android Settings, deletes everything listed in this section.
Third-party services
Google AdMob (advertising)
The app shows banner, full-screen and native (in-list) ads from Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. Depending on your settings and region, ads may be personalised. Learn more in how Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent message before any ads are loaded. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices inside the app.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (announcements)
The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send occasional announcements to all users. To deliver them, Firebase creates a message token for your app installation. We do not link this token to you. You can turn notifications off at any time in Android Settings → Apps → DawoodiBohrasOne → Notifications. See the Firebase privacy information.
Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports)
If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report so we can fix the problem. A report contains the error details, device model, Android version, app version and an installation identifier. It does not contain your name, location, birthdays or anything you saved in the app. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. See the Firebase privacy information.
Google Play services
- Location services provide your approximate location when you allow it.
- Google Play Billing checks whether you previously purchased ad removal. We never receive your payment details.
- Google Play In-App Review may occasionally ask you to rate the app. Google handles the review; we only see what you choose to post publicly.
These services are covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
